Avarios del Caribe, Caribbean coast, Costa Rica.
In the South of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, to approximately 10 kilometers of Cahuita, the center of rehabilitation Avarios del Caribe works for savins sloths (Bradypus variegatus and Choloepus hoffmanni). These animals, injured while crossing roads or by high-voltage wire, captured and abandoned, are taken care by the employees of the center and the volunteers.
They are fed and looked after before being reintroduced in their natural environment when it is possible. To finance and share their missions of preservation, research and educational, the center welcomes the general public, proposes walks in forest and develops an adoption program. The results of the center are now very encouraging.
